The Poiema Story: A Vision of Hope and Transformation

Poiema Movement was born from a powerful dream in the hearts of Pastor Michael Rogalski and Angela Rogalski—a vision to create a refuge for women seeking to rebuild their lives and break free from cycles of harm. Rooted in years of ministry experience and a shared passion for uplifting the most vulnerable, Pastor Michael and Angela recognized a profound need within the community: a place where women impacted by substance abuse, trauma, and homelessness could find hope, healing, and a path to lasting restoration.

The name "Poiema" comes from the Greek word meaning "masterpiece," reflecting the belief that every person is a unique creation with inherent value and divine purpose. Pastor Michael and Angela envisioned more than just a shelter; they dreamed of a transformative program that would empower women to rediscover their worth, reclaim their lives, and step boldly into a future filled with stability and possibility.

In 2018, a significant milestone was reached when the property was purchased, including two homes and an empty lot, laying the foundation for the vision to take root. In 2020, this vision was set into motion as LifePoint Church launched its first transitional living recovery residence, Restoration House, offering four beds. This residence provided not just safe housing but a holistic program designed to support women on their journey from brokenness to wholeness.

The program's success revealed that the mission was greater than one church alone. While Pastor Michael spearheaded this vision through LifePoint Church, it became clear that bringing it to full fruition required the collective strength of the broader community. Under Pastor Michael's leadership, LifePoint grew beyond being just a church in the community—it became a church for the community, inspiring partnerships with other churches, organizations, and individuals united by a shared commitment to hope and healing, one life at a time.

In 2021, Poiema transitioned from a church-based ministry to an independent nonprofit organization, now known as Poiema Movement. This pivotal shift marked the dawn of a new chapter, enabling the organization to broaden its reach and deepen its impact. Angela Rogalski stepped into the role of Board President, continuing to champion the mission with unwavering dedication and a heart for transformative change.

The growth continued in 2022 with the opening of Rapha House, adding four additional beds and expanding the capacity to serve more women. Both Restoration House and Rapha House have been dedicated to supporting individual women on their paths to healing and restoration.

Over the years, Poiema began to receive an increasing number of crisis calls from women with children. By 2024, 45% of these crisis calls came from mothers seeking help for themselves and their families. In response to this growing need, the vision expanded once again. In 2025, Poiema Movement embarked on the construction of El Roi House, a new home specifically designed for women with children, a transformative step to expand the impact for generations to come.

Since its inception, Poiema Movement has flourished, serving women from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Through meaningful collaborations with churches, local organizations, and compassionate individuals, Poiema has fostered lasting change within the community. At its core, Poiema Movement believes that every person is designed with intrinsic value and purpose. True transformation happens when healing touches every part of a woman's life—spirit, mind, and body. Poiema fosters holistic restoration through faith, emotional wellness, and practical life skills. We believe that when women are embraced with love, equipped with tools for growth, and surrounded by a supportive community, they can break free from cycles of harm and step boldly into lives filled with hope, purpose, and lasting change.

Poiema Movement is more than just a place—it is a vibrant community where women are empowered to overcome adversity and embrace their God-given purpose. What began as a powerful dream has grown into a thriving nonprofit, a beacon of hope, resilience, and the extraordinary transformative power of love.
